CONN CURRAN
BIO
While Conn Curran may get his name from an old Irish King, most of his music comes from real Irish genetics. His dad sang with Capitol Recording Artists, The Lettermen, who recorded some major top 40 hits in his time. His mother is a classically trained collegiate vocal major who was also a major folk singer out of Omaha when she met his dad in Amarillo Texas while he was doing college concerts and she was performing in a Holiday Inn.
So Conn, born in Hawaii, was raised there and in Utah with music all around and as the youngest of eight singing kids, he was exposed to a diversity of music which gave him a love of jazz and pop standards early in life. He started singing karaoke at a young age too because his parents were using it in voice teaching and sales in their home. He has since performed with several of his siblings in various entertainment venues from jazz with sister Erin to hip hop with brothers Sean and Shane.
He was first active in choirs with his Oak Canyon Jr High and Orem High School choirs, then at Utah Valley State College in the acclaimed LDS Institute show choir, Latter-day Celebration 2004-2006, often being a featured soloist. It was at UVSC also that Conn came in second place in the UVSC “Idol” competition also in 2006, doing one of his many favorite Michael Buble songs.
But his first big solo break came when chosen as a finalist to sing at the NuSkin 2006 Christmas party in the UVSC Mckay Events Center. He sang in the Owl Lounge at Sundance during the world famous Sundance Film Festival. He was given the opportunity to sing in front of ten thousand Xango Distributors at the 2008 Convention. Has been a semi finalist for the second year in row at the Orem Scera Shell "Celebrity Competition". And most reciently, performed at the BYU Alumni Graduation Dinner. Serving an LDS mission in Mexico has expanded his ability to sing in Spanish as well as in Portuguese, having already learned some Bossa Nova from his father who sang in a missionary quartet in Brazil.
Conn’s smooth baritone voice and the versatile way he interprets the great pop standards makes him uniquely qualified to front any audience and give your music or dance event an experience that will be, as one of Conn’s vocal inspirations Nat King Cole sings it, “Unforgettable.”
